This Orange Mango Kefir Smoothie recipe is a tangy, citrusy drink loaded with probiotics and vitamin C! Kefir is great for your health, and combined with orange and mango, it tastes as good as an orange julius!
I love citrus anytime of year, but especially in the fall and winter! I start regularly buying citrus to help support my family’s immune system when the weather becomes colder and different sicknesses start going around.
Something, however, that I have never been a huge fan of dairy and citrus together until now!
The combination of orange and mango makes it taste as good (if not better) than orange julius! With kefir loaded in probiotics and orange and mango adding vitamin C, this is a great immune boosting drink!

Is orange juice good in smoothies?
Yes, it is!
As I said, I’ve never been a big one for citrus and dairy before, but the orange and mango blend perfectly with one another to make this a very tasty drink!
Are kefir smoothies good for you?
Yes, they are!
Kefir is a high probiotic drink, and consuming it on a daily basis in smoothies is a great way to support your immune system!
Some benefits of Kefir include:
- Improved gut health
- Anti-inflammatory properties
- Overall organ health including for the heart and liver
Besides the benefits of Kefir, you also have the added nutrition of what you put your kefir smoothies! My family enjoys mainly fruits, but we have also included vegetables and seeds sometimes.
How can I make my kefir taste better?
Making kefir taste better and less tangy is very easy when it comes to smoothies. My family prefers mainly fresh or frozen fruit, and a natural sweetener like honey.
Kefir smoothies also are great to blend in fruit juices, greens like kale or spinach, protein like a nut butter or seeds, collagen peptides and spices (if you like). It all depends on what you enjoy!
Another thing that can also help is the flavor of your Kefir.
If you let kefir culture/ferment for a long period, you will have a stronger tasting (tangy and more sour) kefir. Less time = less tangy.
In my post about How To Make Raw Milk Kefir, I list the culture time between 8 – 24 hours. To have kefir that isn’t as tangy, I recommend letting the kefir grains culture the milk only about 8 hours before you switch it to another jar.
What do you need to make kefir smoothies?
To make your own kefir smoothies, you will need:
- A blender (we love the Ninja blender!)
- Kefir – your own or store bought (we prefer the Lifeway brand, if store bought)
- Frozen Mango
- Orange Juice
- Honey
How do you make an orange mango kefir smoothie?
Making a orange mango kefir smoothie is so simple!
First, assemble your ingredients.
Put your kefir into the blender, and then add the frozen mango and orange juice.
Last, add the honey and blend! It is that easy!
Notes
- If smoothie is too thick for preference, add up to another 1/4 cup of orange juice.
- Other sweeteners can substituted in Kefir smoothies, if you don’t have honey. Add the same amount, and test to see if you need more sweetness.
- Try adding collagen peptides to your smoothie for extra protein!
If you enjoy this recipe and love it like our family does, I would love it if you gave it 5 stars! Thank you!
