Why you will love this recipe
Lots of fruit – This Berry Protein smoothie contains strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. I prefer frozen berries, but fresh work as well.
Naturally sweetened – I use honey to sweeten my homemade smoothies, which gives some sweetness without added sugar.
No banana – Many smoothie recipes with have banana in it, but not this one! Simply berries for this smoothie.
Protein – Collagen peptides are added to give a boost of protein to your day!
Why probiotics?
Probiotic foods like kefir have good bacteria, or microflora, for your gut. They help your body stay healthy and aid in your immune system’s response to sickness.
Adding fermented products like probiotic rich kefir also has anti-inflammatory properties and nutrients for overall organ health.
It is a superfood for your body!
Is kefir better for you than yogurt?
Yes, it is!
Kefir contains more probiotics, but also contains more calcium and protein compared to yogurt. Additionally, kefir contains less lactose (or milk sugar) because it is a naturally fermented food making it easier for people who generally may be lactose intolerant.
I enjoy kefir better than yogurt because it is so easy to make homemade kefir as well, compared to yogurt! Making homemade kefir is very hands off superfood to make!
What do you need to make kefir smoothies?
To make your own kefir smoothies, you will need:
- A blender (we love the Ninja blender!)
- Kefir – your own or store bought (we prefer the Lifeway brand, if store bought)
- Frozen strawberries, raspberries and blueberries (you can use fresh as well)

First, assemble your ingredients.
Put your kefir into the blender, and then add the frozen or fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
Last, add the honey and blend! It is that easy!

I read you shouldn’t put honey in kefir as the antibacterial properties of honey will destroy some of the probiotics. Is there another sweetener you recommend?

I will have to read more up on that as my reading indicated that adding honey after the fermentation phase doesn’t affect the probiotics in it, if you consume the smoothie right away. If the probiotics are a concern, my next suggested sweetener to you would be maple syrup.
