How do you make 1 hour dinner rolls?
In a large mixing bowl, add the warm water, sugar and yeast.
Stir to dissolve the yeast, and let sit for 3 – 5 minutes to activate the yeast.

To the yeast mixture, add 2 1/2 c. flour, salt, egg, and oil.

Mix in a stand mixer with the dough hook until blended on a lower speed.

Continue to knead for 5 minutes, adding more flour as needed.

Once kneaded, turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and shape into a long rope.

Cut the dough into 12 even pieces.

Shape each piece into a dinner roll.

Place into shaped rolls onto a greased baking sheet or into a greased baking dish. Space them evenly apart to allow room to rise.

Cover with a towel or plastic wrap, and let the rolls rise for 25 – 30 minutes.

Close to the end of the 25 – 30 minute rising time, preheat the oven to 350°.
Once preheated, bake the rolls for 18 – 20 minutes, until golden brown.

Remove the dinner rolls from the oven. Brush melted butter on the top, if desired.

Eat fresh or let cool before eating.

How can you prepare the dinner rolls beforehand?
To prepare these dinner rolls beforehand, simply make the dough as directed.
Then, cover the pan with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for part of the day or overnight to allow the dinner rolls to do a “cool” rising in the refrigerator.
When you need to bake them, allow the pan of risen dinner rolls to sit out and come to room temperature as the oven is preheating.
After preheating is done, bake as directed!
Can you freeze dinner rolls ahead of time?
Yes, you can!
Make and bake the dinner rolls as directed. Let them cool completely before wrapping in plastic wrap or put into a freezer safe bag.
The night before serving, let the rolls unthaw at room temperature.
If you want them warm (like you just pulled them out of the oven), and pop the rolls into the oven on a low temperature to warm completely up to serve!
