Materials

  • Dehydrated sourdough starter
  • 4 oz. mason jar with lid & ring
  • Scale
  • 4 inch fabric squares
  • 8 inch piece of yarn/string
  • Labels
  • Permanent Marker
  • Scissors
  • Elastic Bands

Instructions

  • Place the mason jar on the kitchen scale and zero out the weight. Then, measure out 10 grams of dehydrated sourdough starter in the jar.
  • Label the jar with the contents.
  • Tie the 8" piece of yarn onto the mason jar ring. Tie another knot at the end of the string.
  • Place the lid on the mason jar with string in the position you'll want it to hand onto tree from.
  • Center the fabric square on lid and secure with two rubber bands.
  • Cut a slit in the fabric where the string will hang on the tree. This will prevent that fabric edge from being pushed up by string.
  • Cut any other parts of the fabric for desired look.
  • Print out "How to Rehydrate Your Sourdough PDF", and cut it out.
  • Fold into quarters to create a booklet, and hang it on the tree next to your finished sourdough starter ornament.

Notes
